We are currently expanding our transportation brokerage roster and seeking responsible and experienced Independent Horse Transporters nationwide. We work with and route transports to professionals who have a passion for working with horses, strong knowledge of equine care, are extremely safety-focused and efficient with their transportation.
Qualifications for Independent Transporters:
- Transportation: Safely and professionally load, care for, transport, and unload horses to various locations, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout travel.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain your own transportation vehicle and trailer to ensure it is in optimal condition, adhering to safety standards and regulations.
- Route Planning: Plan and execute efficient travel routes, taking into account safety, the needs of the horses and minimizing travel stress.
- Communication: Maintain friendly, clear and professional communication with horse owners, barn managers, and other stakeholders to coordinate pickup and delivery times.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of transportation details, including travel logs, horse health certificates, and any incidents or issues that arise during transport.
- Horse Care: Provide excellent basic care and handling of horses during transport, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health.
- Compliance: Adhere to all legal and regulatory requirements related to the transportation of horses, including obtaining necessary permits and following animal welfare guidelines.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to handle any emergencies or unexpected situations that may arise during transport, ensuring the safety and well-being of the horses at all times.
Qualities of Independent Transporters:
- Experience: Proven experience in horse transportation or a related field.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of horse behavior, care, and handling.
- Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Commercial driver's license (CDL) may be required for larger transport vehicles.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the physical demands of loading, unloading, and caring for horses.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think quickly and handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
- First Aid: Knowledge of basic equine first aid and emergency care.
- References: Positive references from previous employers or clients in the equine industry.
